A good read

Fellowes writes like someone who actually understands what a snob is. An insider, he gives us a glimpse of what it is to be on the "other" side. What attracted me was the cover. ( never judge a book by its cover doesn't hold true here). This was a lucky find. When you don't expect to be entertained , it is a sheer delight to BE entertained by a book. I've since recommended it to friends. I wish there were more books like this. Although if there were, this book wouldn't be such a treasure then i suppose.

Dinner at Ciao

Ciao is nestled amongst greenery...along Jalan Tun Razak. I've passed this place at least 20 times and for some odd reason, have never registered this place in the cerebrum. Dinner on Frday night with two good friends was absolutely lovely. Parking wasn't a problem. There were ample parking spots....Ciao is an italian restaurant housed in a old bangalow....refurbished enough to make it cosy but the leaving the original charm untouched. The chef they say is from Venice.

For starters....we had the calamari fritti. the size was moderate. But enought crunchiness in the batter. I liked it. We also had Verdure Alla Griglia (grilled eggplant, zucchini, capcisum and mushroom drizzled with garlic ( yummy ) parsley oil. This was incredibly nice. A definite must when you eat there. For the main course, I had the aglio olio. The sphaghetti was nice and fresh...but the garlicy taste was a tad mild for my liking. I had some difficulty finishing it so I'm gonna say it was passable. (DOME does a mean spicy olio...you should try it )

For dessert, we had the creme brulee ( lovely ), sfogliatine Di Fargole ( delicate pastry tarts..so buttery it was heaven biting into them ) and lastly tiramisu.

They serve lunch as well. So I'll be looking hard for an excuse to bring a friend there just so I can convince myself it was a dream-like experience.

Accesories..

Women with long hair look more feminine It's a fact. You can't change that. Very few can still look graceful with short hair. And there's no hair accesories for them. Apart from ludicrous miniscule hair clips which make you look like a 5 year old child with bad taste. I adore walking into an Evita Peroni shop. You don't know where to start. It's especially there, where I'm reminded why I keep my hair long enough to tie. When I'm in the shop, I think pitying of those with short hair. I pour scorn on them. I forget all about the points against keeping longer hair and think only of HOW I'm going to spend money.

Why you should go out and buy this..

Yesterday I diligently applied my new lipstick before heading out to face the world. What I got was many cheerful comments on how delightful the new lip colour was...and how it complemented my dress boo-tifully. I've only always bought gloss from Mac. This is a testiment to good PR skills. I sauntered into MAC last week. No intention of buying of course. Merely wanted to enjoy the myriad of colours they had to offer. I was greeted with a smile. "Are you looking for anything in particular Miss?" She scored at least 100 brownie points...for calling me Miss. I smiled broadly. She then perceptively left me alone to try my luck. This I proceeded to do....with gusto. After a decent minute had passed. She then sailed back and offered some lipsticks to try. No longer seen as an intrusion I welcomed the offer and together we hunted for the perfect lipstick for me. When I finally found it...we were boh wreathed in smiles.....and I left the shop a very very happy person.
